How to buy directly from us

We post worldwide from our shop in Surbiton, UK.  All our prices are in pound sterling (GBP).

Packing

All our books will be protected with several layers of bubble wrap and cardboard to ensure they arrive undamaged.

In the unlikely scenario that something goes wrong, we will do our best to help, and provide a full refund if necessary.  You can check our outstanding feedback on ebay, Google profile and Facebook group "Folio Society Buy/Sell"

Shipping costs

If you buy directly from us, the shipping cost will be added to the price of the books.

UK: £4 (2Kg), £7 (5Kg), £9 to £12 (10Kg).  

US/Canada: £20 (very small book) to £70 (large parcel)

Australia: £30 to £160. Europe: £15 to £40

We use several couriers but mainly UPS, Yodel and Evri. Please let us know if you have a preferred courier. Other couriers we use less regularly are FedEx, RoyalMail (ParcelForce), and DPD.

Payment methods

There are a few ways to pay when you buy directly from us. No matter how you pay, you are always protected, and we will provide a full refund if your parcel is lost or arrives damaged. In 2023 we posted over 4000 books, and only 24 of them were lost or arrived damaged. In all instances we provided a refund, with no need to involve Paypal.

Please make sure that your address in Paypal is correct and up to date. Non UK buyers should provide a phone number as couriers and customs require it.

Selling Your Books

We regularly buy collections of Folio Society books. If you have a collection of Folio Society books, please read the below guidance and get in touch with us for a quote.

Please arrange the books on a shelf or flat surface and take a picture of the spines with the titles clearly readable. If it is a large collection take pictures of them in groups of about 10/15. Once we have identified all the books, we will send a full quote.

Please identify and highlight any major defects to the slipcases, spines or pages of the books. By defects we mean:

• Smell - Any musty smell caused by humidity or smell of smoke

• Foxing - Yellow or brown spots caused by storage in a humid environment. This can manifest on the page edges or inside the slipcase

• Inscriptions - Any written notes inside the pages of the book

• Ex-Library Book Plates - Stickers or stamps or marks indicating the book as part of an old library collection

• Sun Damage - Usually manifests as fading to the slipcase or book spines

• Stains or Tears - Marks, tears, dents or scratches to the slipcase, book covers or the pages themselves

If we receive the books and they have major defects to the books that were not highlighted this can result in a reduction to the quote, or a return of the books.

If the books are not too far from Surbiton, we might be able to arrange a time to come and pick up the books or alternatively, we can arrange a time if you are able to deliver them to us. Otherwise we can help you to arrange a courier collection if you haven't done so before.
